Most people touring D.C. in an RV stay at Cherry Hill Park in Maryland and let the campground do the hard part. You catch a bus inside the park, connect to the metro, and the train drops you near the White House complex.

It works. It also adds stops Brian and Michelle did not have time for, not with a tour scheduled at 8:30 that morning.

So they tried something they thought was simpler. They aimed straight for Union Station and its covered oversized garage, planning to Uber from there to the meetup spot. They called ahead twice, a week out and again the day before. Both times: no reservation needed, just roll in.
