Turismo vs. Vacanza 19: Compact Grech Models Head-to-Head

The 2027 Grech RV Turismo-ion AWD and Vacanza-ion 19 AWD are the two most compact models in the Grech lineup, and they are hard to tell apart from the outside. Both are built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with all-wheel drive, both measure 234 inches long, and both use the same high-output four-cylinder diesel with a nine-speed transmission. Their starting MSRPs, however, sit exactly $30,000 apart: $267,400 for the Turismo-ion AWD and $237,400 for the Vacanza-ion 19 AWD.

With an identical footprint, the decision comes down to what is installed inside it. The Turismo carries the same GRECH POWER MAX™ system Grech fits to its flagship Strada, which brings 20,480 Wh of battery capacity, Starlink ROAM hardware, and the Fusion® Hideaway Audio System. The Vacanza 19 uses GRECH POWER CORE™, with 10,240 Wh and Starlink pre-wiring. This comparison answers the question most compact-van buyers end up asking: what do you give up with the Vacanza 19, and is the saving worth it?

What Do the Turismo and Vacanza 19 Have in Common?

These two models use the same 211-horsepower Mercedes-Benz diesel engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, and AWD drivetrain. Grech also lists the same major Mercedes-Benz assistance and convenience features, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot assistance, and heated swiveling front seats.

Living space is nearly identical. Both vans have a 66-by-72-inch power sofa bed, an enclosed wet bath, a refrigerator/freezer, and a combination microwave/convection/air fryer. Freshwater, gray-water, and black-water capacities also match.

Both use the diesel-fired Timberline system for hot water and heating, a 15,000-BTU Gree Eco-Cool A/C with heat pump, a power entry step, a power awning, and Grech’s custom fiberglass body kit. Warranty coverage is also the same, starting with Grech’s three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty.

Because Mercedes-Benz equipment availability can change, confirm the features installed on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

POWER MAX vs. POWER CORE: The Biggest Difference

The largest gap between the two models is stored energy. The Turismo’s GRECH POWER MAX™ system provides 20,480 Wh of 51V lithium-ion capacity, which Grech states is enough to run the rooftop A/C for up to 16 hours on battery power alone. The Vacanza 19’s GRECH POWER CORE™ provides 10,240 Wh, rated for up to eight hours of A/C.

Much of the charging and control equipment is shared between the two systems. Both use 51V batteries safety certified by TÜV SÜD, with an external battery management system and a built-in Power Reserve to prevent deep-discharge damage. Both include the Garmin® SERV+™ house control system, Grech Connect™ Wi-Fi remote diagnostics, an ARCO Zeus high-performance alternator and regulator, a Victron Blue Power 3,000W MultiPlus-II inverter/charger, roof-mounted solar, and an inline chassis battery charger. Grech also states that both 51V systems recharge up to 50% faster than its previous 12V platform.

In practice, the Vacanza 19 gives up battery reserve rather than the core charging and control features. Owners who regularly connect to campground power may find its capacity sufficient. Those who spend longer periods without hookups, particularly when using the A/C, have more stored energy available in the Turismo before recharging becomes necessary.

Starlink and Fusion Audio: What Comes Installed?

Connectivity is the second clear difference. POWER MAX includes Starlink ROAM as standard equipment, so the Turismo arrives with the satellite hardware already installed. The service subscription is not included. POWER CORE makes the Vacanza 19 Starlink-ready: the van is pre-wired for easy installation, but the owner provides the Starlink equipment and service.

That matters most for buyers who work from the road or travel beyond reliable cell coverage. If you plan to add Starlink to a Vacanza 19 anyway, the hardware and installation become part of your cost, which narrows the effective price gap. If you have no use for satellite internet, the Turismo’s installed hardware is equipment you are paying for but will not use.

Audio follows a similar pattern. The Turismo’s POWER MAX package adds the Fusion® Hideaway Audio System, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming and a dedicated external port for future expansion, alongside the Premium Sound System listed in its specifications. The Vacanza 19 lists a Premium Soundbar. Both vans include audio equipment; the Turismo’s is more integrated.

The Smaller Upgrades That Add Up

Beyond power and connectivity, Grech’s specifications show a handful of equipment differences inside the coach:

Feature 2027 Turismo-ion AWD 2027 Vacanza-ion 19 AWD
Cooktop Two-burner induction Single-burner portable induction
Waste system Macerator system Standard RV gate-valve dump system
Window shades Automotion power shades Automotion manual shades
Television 24″ LED TV with Apple TV 24″ LED TV
Flooring Vinyl woven flooring Altro wood-look laminate
Table Lagun table Table with mount system

The cooktop is the difference most likely to show up in daily routine. Two induction burners make it easier to cook a full meal at once, while a single portable burner suits owners who cook simply or eat out often, and it can be stored away when counter space is tight.

The waste system is the most practical of the rest. A macerator grinds waste and pumps it through a narrower hose, which gives more flexibility at dump stations, while a conventional gate-valve system drains by gravity through a standard sewer hose. Power shades, Apple TV, flooring, and the table are comfort and finish choices; none of them changes how the van is used.

Turismo or Vacanza 19: Which Fits the Way You Travel?

The Vacanza-ion 19 AWD is the stronger value for buyers who want Grech’s most compact AWD Sprinter, with the same footprint, drivetrain, and core coach as the Turismo, and who don’t plan to lean heavily on battery reserve or satellite internet. The Turismo-ion AWD makes more sense for owners who will use the extra capacity, want Starlink and Fusion audio installed from the start, and would pick most of its comfort upgrades regardless.

If you are also weighing Grech’s larger models, Terreno vs. Vacanza 22 and Strada ION AWD vs. Vacanza ION 24 AWD apply the same question to the 22- and 24-foot lineups. For more on the energy systems themselves, GRECH POWER MAX vs. POWER CORE compares the two 51V platforms in depth, and AWD vs. RWD covers whether all-wheel drive is worth it on a Sprinter RV.
